With a history that stretches back over 1,000 years, the Lantieri family boasts noble origins in the Brescian town of Paratico near Lake Iseo.

In the 1200s they erected their magnificent castle, where, legend has it, Dante stayed while in political exile. Inspired by the landscape around him, he penned verses that would become part of Purgtorio VII from his Divina Commedia. Winemakers since the 16th century, the Lantieri were pioneers in the production of Franciacorta during its infancy in the 1970s.

They were among the very first in the region to use the traditional method of second fermentation in bottle.
